There are some experiences we have been privilaged to have on our travels, that I am sure will be etched permanently into the memories of the whole family. The day we went horse riding at Pastor Alan Kelly’s was one of those days.
Everyone had a chance to ride and that was wonderful. Even Titus who was a little timid, had a turn. Jared was asked to do some tricks on horseback which was a real treat. But the most memorable part of all was watching Alan with his horses and hear him talking about them and various tales from Australian history.
The total trust between horse and man was fascinating and inspiring. My favorite part was listening to Pastor Alan talk about the Charge of Beersheba. He described that miraculous victory while sitting on his horse Eli, a direct descendant of the walers used by the light horseman.
He spoke of courage, the Aussie larrikin spirit and simple faith. We all walked away a little richer, a little more full of wonder and a little prouder of our Aussie heritage.
