The Warrego. There’s nothing so good to see as an outback river in full flow. 💛
It’s these moments that fill my heart. Meandering down a dusty track in the warm winter sun, looking for a path down to the river. Children scampering alongside, the little one on my husbands shoulders so he doesn’t get prickles.
Finding a soft sandy beach, strewn with a few old logs washed down in the last flood to sit on. Breathing deeply as we watch the kids splash and play. Occasionally gazing up at the deep blue and following a hawk or eagle as it glides on the thermal currents watching for prey.
Thinking of my dad and how he taught me to love this land and notice every small nuance of change. Not this land in particular. I’ve never been to Wyandra before. But this land, this country. This earth that we walk on each day. Thanks Dad.
May I pass on that love, that noticing to our children. I do not take it for granted.
