We were going to the races… red claw style! After four weeks working in Capella and at the end coming down with the flu, we all needed a rest. Upon a friend’s recommendation we had decided to camp at Theresa Creek Dam.
One of our friendly neighbors invited us the day before the big day to come and “choose your horse”. There was much laughter and jollyment around the camp as preparations were made (a spare rope was placed in a circle and the ‘horses’ collected in an old tub).
When they were finally released from the gates, it was a slightly underwhelming start to the race 😅 but in the end despite several sabotage attempts, my ‘horse’ won by several lengths!! I don’t think any records were broken but lots of good memories were made.
