A fun day fossicking for opals in Yowah. Learnt all about the Yowah nut… found a few empty ones.
We were told Yowah is the only place in the world where opals are found in a rock type nut form. Found a few pretty rocks to bring home but nothing to pay the mortgage 😆
Hard to imagine spending years out here digging for an uncertain prize, but all the shanties around town testify that many have done just that. Fascinating little spot is Yowah.
